Privacy
Short version: no accounts, no cookies, no ad trackers. We count searches and sends anonymously so we can tell whether SendComedy is any good.
What we count
- Events: searching, opening a bit, playing it, sending it, saving it, and tapping "Reply with a bit".
- A random tab id: a random code that lives only in your current browser tab, so a search can be linked to the send that followed. It resets after 30 minutes without activity and disappears when you close the tab. It isn't a cookie, and it isn't tied to you.
- Searches that find nothing: if a search returns no bits, we keep what you typed (the first 60 characters, lowercased, with emails, links and phone numbers removed) so we can add the missing bits. Searches that do find bits are counted without the text.
- "Paste a text": the text you paste never leaves your browser. Matching happens on your device. We only record which situations it matched (like "rent & landlords") and how many results came back.
- Send codes: each link you send carries a random code (
?r=…). The code is counted with the send, and again when someone opens the link, so we can tell that a reply happened. We can't tell who either of you is. - Where a visit came from: only a rough category: a chat or typed link, social media, a search engine, or another site. Never the address you came from.
What we don't collect
- No cookies on the public site, and no accounts.
- We don't store your IP address or browser details with these counts. Your IP is used only for a moment, to stop floods of fake events, and is never saved with them.
- No advertising pixels, no cross-site tracking, and we don't sell data.
- If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we don't count anything at all.
- Automated visitors like search-engine crawlers aren't counted.
Stored on your device only
Your Tight Five favorites stay in your browser's local storage and never reach us. So does a list of the send codes you created, which is how opening your own link isn't mistaken for a reply. (Each code itself is counted once, with the send.) Clearing your browser data removes both.
Other services involved
- YouTube: every bit is the comedian's or network's official upload. The player loads only after you tap play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). From then on, Google's privacy policy applies to the video.
- Thumbnails and fonts: clip thumbnails come from YouTube's image servers, and the typefaces come from Google Fonts. Your browser contacts Google to load them.
- Cloudflare: hosts the site. Like any web host, it keeps short-lived request logs, which include IP addresses, to run and protect the service. We don't copy them into our counts.
Removal requests
If you use the Remove my bits form, we keep the name, email, links and note you send, only to handle and record the request.
